New York City Luxury Condos Attract Buyers with Phenomenal Fitness Facilities
Manhattan residents are accustomed to walking and to having access to beautiful parks that provide them with endless trails and green spaces in which to work off some steam.
Those of us who live in the city want a place that’s steps away (or an elevator ride away) from fitness amenities that give us indoor spaces as well. Economic predictors are that 2011is going to a better year for New York real estate than last year. According to a Forbes article in January of this year, New York is one of the top ten markets that’s on the rise.
Developers are answering the call for buyers’ wish list of amenities when purchasing a luxury condo with spacious, new fitness facilities that are included in the purchase price and monthly maintenance fees. There’s no need to belong to a gym anymore and/or purchase a membership–not when you’ve got these kinds of fitness phenoms where you live.
One of the best (and my favorite) is the Rushmore’s fitness facility at 64th Street and Riverside Blvd. We’ve got 7,000 square feet of state-of-the-art fitness equipment and an indoor pool. Managed by LA PALESTRA™ , Manhattan’s “hybrid between the medical and fitness industry,” residents have access to diagnostic health screening and onsite guidance from a select staff of exercise specialists.
I have a three-bedroom, three bath listing at the Rushmore with views of the Hudson River.
Plus, you’ve got Central Park (one of my favorite running places) before (and after) work, literally steps away.
Right next to the Rushmore is the Aldyn at 60 Riverside Boulevard in Lincoln Square. Waterfront living with luxury rental and sales units plus The Aldyn Athletic Club and Spa, managed by LA PALESTRA™ has a 75’ indoor pool, spa, basketball and squash courts. There’s also Yoga, Pilates, a bowling alley and club lounge. You won’t have to travel upstate to get in some mountain climbing. This facility has a 38-foot wall for that as well!
Another one is Laurel Condominiums, an Upper East Side LEED-certified luxury building that has an in-house Trophy Club with a Triathlon Training Center, two resistance pools, a 50-foot lap pool and sauna and steam rooms. A very nice place to get ready for November’s New York City Marathon.
The Caledonia in Chelsea is the first luxury residential building on Manhattan’s High Line and contains the first fully-integrated Equinox Fitness Facility, voted best gym in America by Fitness Magazine.
In Midtown West, Windsor Park offers residents private Yoga and Pilates classes and the Cassa Hotel and Residences has a 24-hour gym for guests and permanent residents.
Related Companies’ newest luxury condo units in Midtown Manhattan, MiMA at 450-460 West 42nd Street, have a heated indoor lap pool, basketball and volleyball courts and state-of-the-art fitness center by Equinox.
According to a New York Times article, Related Company surveyed 1,300 renters and owners (mainly from Manhattan) about what they wanted in a luxury condo building and overwhelmingly, one of the responses was, “They liked working out, playing sports and living in a happening neighborhood…”
State-of-the-art fitness facilities, personalized fitness classes and personal trainers are becoming more the norm–not the exception–when it comes to luxury living in Manhattan. It’s nice to know that rain or shine, there’s always a place for Manhattanites to relieve work-day stressors with some good, old-fashioned “sweat equity.”
Have a good workout!
