Memorial Day Celebrations in Full Swing in Manhattan!
As Memorial Day approaches, New York City is celebrating with plenty of events to honor and remember our country’s men and women who’ve paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Fleet Week is in its 24th year here in Manhattan, kicking off this past Wednesday the 25th, with the “Parade of Ships.” With a host of U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships and aircraft, the procession made its way up and over the Hudson River, “rendering honors in Staten Island, Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center.” See there military vessels and aircraft here.
Each day through Monday, May 30th, Fleet Week festivities (many free) will take place at the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum located at Pier 86 at West 46th Street and 12th Avenue. There will be Pier displays each day to include military vessel tours, Broadway tributes and performances from some of Manhattan’s best-loved musicals, military band performances and educational demonstrations.
